1. Account Opening Methods

Online Account Opening

If you hold a bank account in any of Hong Kong, Singapore, Canada, US, United Kingdom, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, Ireland, Israel, Italy, MY, Norway, Portugal, Sweden
And fine with depositing HKD10,000.00 or USD equivalent to HashKey Exchange to meet HKSFC regulatory and compliance requirements, you can choose the "Online Account Opening" method.
 

Offline Account Opening in Hong Kong office

If you do not have a bank account in the country/region required for "Online Account Opening" above
or do not wish to transfer HKD10,000.00 or USD equivalent to HashKeyExchange,
You can bring your original account opening documents including your identification document(s) together with your address proof to "HashKey Exchange Hong Kong office" to open an account.
 

2. Materials Required Before Account Opening

2.1 Bank Account Supported by the Platform (Offline account opening users can skip this part.）

Own a bank account in any of the following countries or regions: Hong Kong, Singapore, Canada, United States, United Kingdom, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Malaysia, Norway, Portugal, or Sweden.

2.2.1 Common questions about opening an account with a Chinese passport

Chinese passport + overseas ID supported by HashKey Exchange, oversea ID supported by HashKey Exchange include resident ID cards of non-Chinese mainland areas, permanent resident visas, residence permits, work visas, student visas, business visas and other overseas documents with long-term residence attributes.
  • Overseas ID valid period requirements:
Greater than or equal to 3 months from KYC submission date to certificate expiration date.
  • Overseas ID format requirements:
Only original photos are accepted, no copies or scans are accepted.
  • Other special requirements for overseas ID:
Not support tourist visas and driver's licenses.
Not support Dominica and Palau visas.
  • How should I upload my documents during the KYC certification process?
      Please submit a Chinese passport first. Select "China" for nationality and "Passport" for certificate type.
      Then submit overseas ID. The nationality and certification type can be selected based on your overseas ID.
 

2.3 Proof of Address

What types of Address Proof Do We Accept?

Residential rental contract 1) The issuing unit of the certificate must be an official department of the local government (if necessary, please provide relevant certificates)

5) Name: The name of the bill is the same as the name of the ID.

Hotel apartment rental contract 1) Contract Start and End Date: Termination Date is more than 90 days from the date of KYC submission

Government administrative bills 1) The issuing unit must be an official department of the local government (if necessary, please provide relevant proof).

5) The proof document must be an official document or stamped with an official seal, where the official logo can be clearly seen or there is the same sample proof on the official website

Certificate of Special Occupations 1) Type of accepting unit : only address certificates issued by schools, hospitals, fire fighting units are accepted
2) Address proof content requirements, including at least the following information and meeting the corresponding requirements
- The certificate is issued within 3 months
- The certificate specifies the length of your residence and within the valid period
- The name is the same as the name of the ID.
Occupation must match the type of residence. If you live in a school, your occupation should be a student or teacher
- Must be stamped with the unit seal

*Note: HashKey Exchange does not support proof of residence in the Chinese mainland region. As the types of proof of address issued by all countries/regions are different, HashKey Exchange, as a licensed Financial Institution, may require you to provide more proof to verify the legitimacy of the proof of address in some cases.
 
 

3. Key Points of KYC Verification

3.1 Authentication of Basic Information

3.1.1 Basic documents and personal information section

  • Prepare your original ID and find a location with bright, even light.
  • Ensure the photo you take of your ID is clear and all of the information can be seen.
  • Ensure the ID photo is taken with the original and all four corners are visible.
  • Ensure that the ID photo has no glare.

3.1.2 Proof of address section

  • Please ensure the issuing institution, language, occupation, and date of your proof of address meet our platform requirements.
  • Please ensure the address on the proof of address is a residential address and not a commercial address.

3.1.3 Financial information section

  • If your employment status is "Unemployed" or "Retired", you cannot use "Salary" as the initial funding source.
  • If your business nature is "Government Employee", you must select "Government Worker" as your occupation.
  • Tax identification number is required. Please ensure that you enter the tax number using your actual information. If you hold a Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card, your tax number will be the same as your Hong Kong ID.
  • Mainland china passport number is not supported as a tax identification number.

3.1.4 Agreement Signing

  • Signature is required. Please ensure that your signature can be seen.
 

3.2 Investment Experience and Assessment of Virtual Asset Knowledge

3.2.1 Investment Experience Questionnaire

  • Please complete the questionnaire honestly, based on your current situation.

3.2.2 Cryptocurrency Knowledge Test

  • Please complete the test based on your current situation.
 

3.3 Fiat Currency Transfer

3.3.1 Transfer Amount

Initial deposit transfer must be HKD10,000 or USD equivalent Please be awared that you may be charged for processing fees by transferring banks. If you are transferring USD, you are highly recommended to enhance the transfer amount to ensure that your initial deposit meets our platform's requirements.
 

3.3.2 When will the funds be deposited into your account?

It depends on the transfer method, currency, internal bank process, and whether the transfer matches requirements of the platform.
  • If your bank account name is 100% the same as the KYC certified name, the platform will complete it within 5 minutes of receiving your fund transfer.
  • If your bank account name is different from the KYC certified name, Your application will enter a manual review. We only accept deposits with the same name, and do not accept deposits from any non-identical or joint card accounts.
