How does Ledger + Electrum use a fixed address when sending transactions? – HashKey Exchange

When customer use hardware wallets such as Ledger and connect to Electrum, the default situation is: a BTC payment address will only be used once. At the same time, when the wallet transfers BTC out, we cannot choose which "unspent utxo" to use - fixed Wallet address . This article provides an example of how to resolve this issue for reference.

Steps

This article uses macos version electrum (v4.4.6) as an example

1. Open the "Address", "Select coin" view

2. Enter the "Select Coin" tab

Here you can see that all unspent utxo related to this wallet are displayed on the interface

3. Select all utxo that can be used for this send

Right-click the corresponding utxo and select "Add Coin Selection"

You can also right-click after multiple selections and select "Add Coin Selection"

This article selects the last two utxo, which both belong to the same address. After selection, the interface is displayed as follows

4. Enter the "Send" Tab

After filling in the amount to be sent to the destination address, select "Pay"

Send settings
1. After entering the sending preview page, the default is as follows

Click the button in the upper right corner to modify the configuration. Turn on "Show input and output" and turn off "Use new change address"

Make sure to modify the configuration as shown below
1. At this step, we can find that the utxo used to send the transaction is the target utxo we manually selected, and at the same time, the change ouput is also sent back to our original address.
